Mission and Service

As a community we are called to be a missionary community and continue the work of Jesus as servants sent into the world.   Part of our work as missionaries is to proclaim, by life and witness, that Jesus is King over all other powers and authorities.  This work requires the naming of the powers, authorities and idols of the culture we live among.  Nationalism, idividualism, tribalism, racism, militarism, and consumerism are among the idols we are working to root out of our community and name in the culture.

Following the pattern of Jesus we cannot simply name these things, but must be willing to place ourselves in the spiritual war that is oppressing both the opressor and the oppressed.  We are called to wrap a towel around our communities waist and be willing to walk in love and servanthood.
